What is there to do in Morganton?
Morganton is a small town, but we have a few little treasures, as well as a big local outdoors scene for hiking, rivers, lake James, and bicycling. Here are some of our favorite businesses
Coffee:
Thornwell (right across the street from us, with a cute bookstore!)
The Grind (within walking distance, also serves breakfast / lunch!)
Little Guatemala (authentic Guatemalan coffee with a beautiful patio!)
Retail:
Adventurebound books (used books!)
Thornwell (new books in a cute cafe, right across the street from us!)
Hot Box Vintage (vintage shop! Open thursday - Sunday)
Green Eggs and Jam (record store and general weirdness, like an antique store but curated)
The Pop Shop (skate shop!)
Overmountain cycles (super cool bicycle shop that runs regular town biking events)
Food (check the hours because hours in Morganton can be sporadic):
Moondog Pizza
The Grind for cafe food and casual lunch / breakfast bagels
Homers for late night Wednesday-Saturday
Kin2kin (asian food right on the square)
Food Matters (great deli sandwiches in the daytime)
Mountain burrito (only open Friday to Sunday but good clean tacos and burritos!)
There are usually food trucks on the square during lunch hours on weekdays!
Bars and brews:
Homers (full bar)
Fonta flora (great local craft beer, a must-stop Morganton place if you like beer!)
Sidetracked (more beer!)
Magnolia room (its a hotel bar right downtown, but with a seperate entrance. The locals hang there for fancy cocktails.
